Reading Material

Here's a glimpse into what I'm reading right now:

Console Wars: Sega, Nintendo, and the Battle that Defined a Generation by Blake Harris
If you grew up in the 90s, you knew how fierce the rivalry was between those of you who had either a Sega Genesis or a Super Nintendo. What most of us didn't know, however, was how high tensions were between the major players at each company. The story is mostly told from the Sega side, but there's enough in there from Nintendo to keep both sides happy and engaged in the story. We all know how both companies ended up in the end, but the drama that unfolds between 1993 and 1995 is enough to buy the book on its own. I highly recommend it.

I've been a follower of Andrew Kim's since I read an article about him years ago hailing his fresh take on Microsoft's brand identity. Since then, Andrew has accepted a job offer with Microsoft working on a top secret project on the Xbox team. Lucky for us, he still finds the time to post from time to time on his website and his Instagram page. Andrew's approach to design is very clean and minimalist (hence the blog's name), and he has some very interesting, yet practical retakes on everything from Coca Cola bottles to the voting system.
